The Laboratory Assistant is an integral part of our Research and Development team based out of our US - Willow Island, WV site.

 

Position Details

The Microbiology Laboratory Assistant provides laboratory support and performs routine technical procedures in the Microbiology Department in an FDA regulated manufacturing facility.

Conducts routine laboratory procedures, such as preparation of media, reagents and standard solutions, performance of simple chemical, physical and/or biological tests, and maintenance of related notes and records.

Provides general laboratory support, including stocking and distributing supplies and equipment, arranging and dismantling apparatus, and collecting, washing and storing glassware.

Observes and assists higher level technical and scientific personnel as needed and as part of development in learning more advanced techniques, equipment, instrumentation, and procedures for standard operating procedures, good laboratory practices, good manufacturing practices, safety and health, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepping the production inoculum bottles, including bottle medium and transfers, and tracking usage in the shop
  • Executing without supervision the foreign growth testing on production fermentations
  • Executing without supervision IQ/OQ/PQ on laboratory equipment
  • Specialty analytical chemistry analysis (and maintenance of equipment) on fermentation samples
  • cGMP reviews on production records
  • Executing without supervision the preparation and QC testing of strain subcultures
  • Producing subculture for environmental testing
  • Supporting CTC & LSL production by entering the raw material usage into JDE
  • Inoculating bottles
  • Writing and executing validation protocols
  • Writing and reviewing appropriate SOP procedures and forms
  • Purchasing all lab supplies and service contracts for the lab

Education & Experience

  • High School degree or equivalent is required.
  •  Associate Degree or equivalent experience in Biology, Microbiology or Life Sciences is preferred
