The Biotechnology Research Operations Manager is an integral part of our Research and Development team based out of our US - Sarasota, FL site.

 

Position Details

This role will act as the primary lead for all biotechnology projects and personnel associated with Research and Development in the areas of Molecular Biology, Fermentation, and Plant Health.  This position will report directly to the Senior Director of Microbial Sciences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directs a variety of R&D projects including those associated with both product and process development in the areas of Molecular Biology, Fermentation, and Plant Health.
  • Oversees multiple laboratories to ensure safe, functional and efficient daily operations.
  • Manages, mentors and supports laboratory personnel toward timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Organizes supply chain within the R&D department for all required products and services.
  • Collaborates with scientists on projects throughout other divisions within the company.
  • Effectively communicates progress of projects both written and verbally to others within the division as required.
  • Works closely with Executive Management to identify key areas of interest and new product opportunities.
  • Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, budgets and schedules.
  • Prepares and presents research objectives and results professionally and effectively.
  • Completes bench related responsibilities as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Master's Degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.  Doctoral degree preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience in laboratory management preferred with a Master's Degree or 2+ years' experience with a Doctoral degree.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques related to Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and/or Microbiology.  Background in Fermentation and/or Plant Health applications desirable.
