The Bio-Applications Specialist is an integral part of our Research and Development team based out of our US - Sarasota, FL site.

 

Compensation range for this position is $65,000.00 -$75,000.00

 

Position Details

The R&D Bio-Applications Specialist will help lead initiatives based on company goals and objectives. Must possess strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills along with sound judgement, superb multitasking abilities and the motivation and drive to support the business.

Key Responsibilities

    • Design final formulation formula to meet customer specifications and requirements.
    • Develop new or improved ways of preserving, processing, packaging, storing, and delivering industrial, agricultural, and animal products, using knowledge of chemistry, microbiology, and other sciences.
    • Responsible for product final formula creation, revision, evaluation and validation prior to manufacturing.
    • Evaluate new products for viscosity, texture, color, potency, and adherence to government and industry standards.
    • Designs, coordinates, and evaluates the results of shelf-life testing Maintain accurate records of lab work, documentation of ingredients, and provide statistical evaluations and reports.
    • Conduct microbiological testing, including microbial identification, viability, and enumeration to ensure quality and safety in the production process.
    • Collaborates closely with customers and suppliers in the development of new products identifying, developing, and implementing new ideas, ingredients, and processes.
    • Contributes early guidance in product development to improve delivery of product designs.
    • Actively contributes to product development processes including cost savings investigations and assessment of alternate supply lines.
    • Check raw ingredients for maturity or stability for processing and finished products for stability and quality.
    • Recommends manufacturing/quality procedures and measures in transition to plant production.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • BS in Life Sciences degree (Chemistry, Food chemistry, Biochemistry and/or Microbial physiology and Molecular biology would be best but open to others).
  • 2-3 years industry experience.
  • Experience with microbiology or fermentation highly desired.
