The Electrical & Instrumentation Tech is an integral part of our Manufacturing team based out of our US - Quincy, IL - North Plant site.

 

Hourly rate range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00  

 

 

Position Details

The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician supports Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams by maintaining electrical systems, instrumentation, and robotics. This role is responsible for troubleshooting PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and DCS (Distributed Control Systems) automation components and logic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains, and diagnoses issues with instrumentation, control circuits, and other manufacturing equipment.
  • Conducts preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical systems, including conduit, cables, motors, and robotics.
  • Interprets installation specifications, wiring schematics, instrument drawings, and component diagrams to determine proper equipment and machinery installation.
  • Diagnosing and replacing servo motors, drives, and controllers.
  • Completes capital projects to install new equipment and instrumentation.
  • Configuring, troubleshooting, and calibrating sensors, proximity switches, and robot-guided vision systems.
  • Reviews completed installations and monitors operations to verify compliance with design requirements and adherence to operational and safety standards.
  • Assists plant operations and maintenance teams in identifying the causes of process variations, including problems with controls, disturbances, limitations, control loops, or instrumentation.
  • Trains maintenance and operations staff on the proper use of electrical and robotics-related instrumentation or equipment.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or post-secondary certificate in Industrial Electricity/Industrial Maintenance/Automation & Robotics or related degree or 3+ years of experience.
  • Understanding of NEC, UL- Codes, NFPA-70 & NFPA-70e electrical standards.
  • Ability to diagnose controls/electrical issues using various meters and related equipment.
  • Excellent understanding of both single-phase and three-phase power.
  • Ability to set up, configure and troubleshoot VFDs.
  • Knowledge of teach pendants to modify robot movements, set waypoints, and verify program logic.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Certification.

  • Demonstrates ability to develop, mentor, and train technical and operational personnel, to improve controls equipment.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to leverage new technologies for process improvement solutions.
  • Motivated to take process ownership and help guide operations personnel.
