The Transportation Logistics Analyst is an integral part of our Supply Chain team based out of our US - Omaha, NE - Nutritionals, US - Quincy, IL - Office (MNNS) site.

Position Summary

The Transportation Logistics Analyst is responsible for optimizing and managing all aspects of transportation operations for both Full Truckload (FTL) and Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) shipments. This role supports cost efficiency, service quality, and compliance by analyzing freight data, coordinating with carriers, and implementing logistics strategies that align with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shipment Planning & Execution
    • Coordinate daily FTL and LTL shipments ensuring on-time delivery, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with service standards.
    • Work with internal stakeholders (Customer Service, Warehousing, Procurement) to align shipment schedules with demand and capacity.
    • Optimize mode selection, route planning, and carrier allocation for maximum efficiency.
  • Carrier Management
    • Source, evaluate, and manage carrier performance for FTL and LTL providers.
    • Negotiate freight rates and contracts to achieve cost savings while maintaining service quality.
    • Maintain relationships with carrier representatives to resolve issues and improve performance.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting
    • Analyze freight spend, shipment data, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and service improvements.
    • Develop regular reports and dashboards on freight costs, transit times, carrier performance, and exceptions.
    • Conduct root cause analyses for delivery failures, claims, or cost variances.
  • Process Improvement
    • Implement process improvements, automation, and system enhancements within the transportation management system (TMS).
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to freight optimization, sustainability, and supply chain efficiency.
  • Compliance & Documentation
    • Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and other transportation regulations.
    • Maintain accurate shipping documentation, carrier agreements, and freight audit records.
    • Support internal and external audits as required.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field.
  • Experience: 2–5 years in transportation or logistics, preferably with exposure to both FTL and LTL networks.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and ERP software (MercuryGate, Four Kites, JD Edwards, etc.)
    • Strong Excel and data analysis skills; experience with a plus.
  • Knowledge:
    • Understanding of freight rate structures, carrier operations, and mode optimization.
    • Familiarity with freight claims, routing guides, and shipment visibility tools.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Carrier scorecard metrics (OTIF, damage rate, claims ratio)
