The Junior Control Software Engineer is an integral part of our Manufacturing team based out of our US - Omaha, NE - Nutritionals, US - Quincy, IL - North Plant site.

 

Position Purpose

Design and develop manufacturing processes and controls

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, program, commissioning and maintenance of process control and automation systems (PLC/DCS) including Human Machine Interface (HMI)
  • Prepare technical drawings, control system specifications and documentation to ensure that installations and operations conform to standards
  • Assist and develop capital projects/programs by developing budgetary quotes for labor, materials and construction costs for controls, instrumentation, sensors and electrical
  • Participate in pre-design reviews, specification of equipment/instruments and oversee project construction to assure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Assist contractors with job requirements and monitor their work to assure it is in accordance with established methods and procedures
  • Inspect completed installations to observe operations, ensuring conformance to design specifications and operational/safety standards
  • Determine the causes of process variations including, but not limited to, control problems, process disturbances, plant limitations, control loops or instrumentation
  • Provide training and guidance to maintenance and operations personnel for proper operation of equipment
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and control systems

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical/Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree/experience
  • Less than 5 years of work experience in industrial control system design (PLC/DCS/HMI) programming and integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Willingness to participate in team oriented and performance driven work environment
  • Proven ability to execute multiple projects at one time while remaining detail oriented

Technical Competencies

  • Training or experience with programming languages, ladder logic, structured text or sequential function charts
  • Familiarity with object-oriented design
  • Experience with data analysis, database storage and retrieval
  • Ability to understand equipment specifications and capabilities
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals or communications protocols
  • Ability to setup and configure process controls instrumentation
  • Knowledgeable of OSHA safety requirements
