The Cental Services/Media Prep/Fill Tech is an integral part of our Manufacturing team based out of our US - Omaha, NE - Vaccines site.

 

Position Details

The Central Services, Media Prep, Fill Tech is an is an integral part of our Central Services, Media Prep, Fill team based out of our Phibro Vaccine Omaha Office, in Omaha, NE. The Central Services, Media Prep, Fill work as one unit. Techs are expected to overlap departments when needed, as workflow dictates.  This position will be trained in all areas of these departments. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

Key Responsibilities

 Record keeping must include clear, legible and precise documentation of processes. Work and cleaning must be completed according to SOP's and cleaning logs for each process. Fill Lab: Batch/Fill orders after completion by the Virus/Bacterin Production. Standing for long periods of time. Basic math skills. Required to calculate volume measurements, conversions and dosages, computer and data entry skills.  Good hand/eye coordination to measure/fill orders. Follow and use aseptic technique at all times when filling/stoppering an order. Label/pack fills, see that vial counts are completed. Label Government samples. Keep concurrent/accurate paperwork. Comply with all USDA regulations (9CFR regulations and guidelines concerning the department. Keep holding room and laboratories stocked/clean and rotate stock within the lab according to autoclave run dates. Central Services: Preparation of all glassware/lab equipment, including washing, wrapping, and sterilizing. Operation of autoclaves which require lifting. Manually wash or operate machines to wash/remove impurities from items such as glassware, lab equipment, tanks, and plastics. Prepare equipment for sterilization – autoclaving, load and unload autoclaves, glassware, tanks, and medias. Put away/rotate glassware and lab supplies. Requisition materials for the department as needed. Media prep is responsible for producing medias for the following departments: bacterin, virus production, quality control, diagnostics, research and development, virus diagnostic lab, and for adjuvant.  This position requires standing for long periods of time to weigh, mix, and filter, and dispense.  It also entails lifting.  Basic math skills required to calculate volume measurements/conversions. Conduct inventory of media and other supplies. Filter sterilizing media/components/reagents. Load/unload autoclaves. Put away/rotate media/lab supplies. Record keeping includes clear, precise recording of lot numbers, volumes/amounts and supplies used as required by the data capture forms. Maintain, clean, and/or sterilize lab equipment. Pouring tissue culture plates and flasks.

Education & Experience

  • Education and/or Experience:  Minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalency.   Experience in these areas is preferred.
  • Decision Making Responsibilities: Ability to understand and apply written instructions to properly perform procedures.
  • Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret in the English language. Ability to apply mathematical formulas to practical situations with laboratory work including conversions and volume measurements of dosages.  It also requires computer/software utilization.
  • Physical Demands: Lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to push/pull tanks weighing up to 1300 pounds.  Must be able to move from place to place in all areas of production.  Must be able to stand and bend during entire shift.  Requires good eyesight for calibrations and hand/eye coordination when viewing glassware, measuring and filling orders.
  • Work Environment: Includes heat when working around autoclaves, cold when pulling items from cooler, and moisture when cleaning and disinfecting glassware.
