Compensation range for this position is $85,000.00 -$130,000.00

The Lab Manager is an integral part of our Research and Development team based out of our US – Mendon, IL location.

Position Details

The Lab Manager plays a critical role in managing the day-to-day operations of the Phibro Innovation Center laboratory. This position oversees all aspects of laboratory activities aimed at advancing knowledge in areas of animal health and nutrition. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to, coordinating laboratory research activities, managing laboratory personnel, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, overseeing equipment maintenance, and assisting in budgetary planning. The Laboratory Manager will collaborate closely with scientists, farm personnel and other experts to ensure successful execution of research projects.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations Management

  • Plan, organize, and supervise day-to-day operations of the research laboratory.
  • Ensure all activities align with research objectives and comply with relevant regulations and protocols.

Research Project Support

  • Collaborate with farm and research teams to design and execute experiments, trials, and data collection protocols.
  • Monitor and document research progress, ensuring accurate and timely data collection.

Resource Management

  • Manage budget allocation for the laboratory, including procurement of supplies, equipment, and resources.
  • Oversee inventory, maintenance, and repairs of laboratory equipment.

Staff Supervision and Training

  • Recruit, train and manage a team of laboratory technicians and interns.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, providing guidance and mentorship as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field:  Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Animal Science; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10 years of laboratory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory methods, such as cell culture and basic molecular biology techniques, and implementing good laboratory practices.
  • Experience and/or familiarity working in a biosafety level 2 laboratory.
  • Proficiency in data collection and reporting using relevant software/tools.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, compliance standards and regulatory requirements.
