The Animal Technician is an integral part of our Research and Development team based out of our US - Mendon, IL site.

 

Position Details

The Animal Technician plays a critical role in the day-to-day operations and execution of scientific research at the Phibro Innovation Center.  This position supports the execution and planning of various aspects of scientific research, such as animal care, handling, data collection and the maintenance of facilities.  This role involves hands-on work with animals and will assist scientists, research coordinators and other colleagues involved in farm and research activities.

Key Responsibilities

Animal Care and Husbandry 

  • Provide daily care and husbandry for laboratory animals, including feeding, watering, cleaning and monitoring animal health. 
  • Administer treatments as directed by research protocols or veterinarians 

Research Support 

  • Assist scientists and research coordinators in setting up experiments and collecting data. 
  • Monitor animals during experiments, recording observations and reporting any abnormalities 

Facility Maintenance 

  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of animal holding areas and equipment 
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of research facilities 

Safety and Compliance 

  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including the handling and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials 

Equipment Operation 

  • Operate and maintain specialized equipment used in animal research

Education & Experience

  • Bacherlor’s degree in a relevant field (animal science, biology, veterinary, etc) 

  • Previous experience working with animals in a research or clinical setting is preferred 

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment
