Duration: Summer internship (11 weeks)
Job Description
- We are seeking a highly motivated and independent self-starter to join our team as a Summer Intern starting in May 2026. This position is ideal for a rising junior, recent college graduate, or graduate student who is eager to learn about transition cow health and management and contribute to a Phibro field study focused on blood calcium testing in Alberta. The intern will work closely with Phibro’s sales and technical teams to enhance their skills and gain valuable experience in the field.
- Phibro will provide educational training necessary to be successful during the summer. Interns will also receive an overview of Phibro, our products and services.
- Track current Phibro trials and field evaluations as directed by local Technical Services Manager and provide appropriate feedback.
- Provide field support for the internship, including on-farm visits, data collection and coordination with project partners, and potential ride‑along opportunities with dairy consultants and sales managers.
- Compile collected information and present findings to Phibro’s Management at the conclusion of the internship. Additionally, develop farm-specific reports summarizing results for participating producers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-farm research sampling as part of a Phibro field study.
- Help collect blood samples from cows, process and ship serum samples for analysis, and analyze blood samples on-site.
- Measure urine pH of cows and assist with training industry partners and producers on proper sampling techniques.
Desired qualifications:
- Highly motivated and independent self-starter with a desire to learn.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Previous research experience preferred.
- Strong animal handling skills.
- Experience using MS Office software.
- Valid driver's license and personal vehicle with proof of insurance.
Timelines
- Orientation and training will be held on the week of May 25, 2026, and is mandatory.
- Nine weeks of field activity and market exposure will follow, conducted under the direction of the local Technical Services Manager
- Estimated total duration of program is 11 weeks but it could vary depending on the candidate’s semester schedule and individual circumstances.
- One week of compilation, preparation, and presentation of findings to Phibro Management team week of August 10, 2026
Compensation and Expense Reimbursement
- Paid internship with a competitive hourly wage.
- Phibro will reimburse the intern for reasonable travel expenses to include meals, hotel accommodation and other direct expenses incurred.
- The intern will provide their own transportation/vehicle approved by Phibro management and be reimbursed for actual business miles at the prevailing CRA rate, which include fuel and other vehicle operating costs. Proof of insurance will be required.
