The Strategic Program Engineer is an integral part of our Engineering team based out of our Ireland - Sligo site.

 

Position Details

PURPOSE
The Strategic Program Engineer will be assigned to project work at the manufacturing site and will provide dedicated engineering support to ensure safe, compliant, cost-effective & timely delivery of capital, equipment, facility, utility, process & site improvement projects. The role will support project planning, technical coordination, work package execution, contractor and vendor interfaces, equipment qualification & project handover activities in accordance with engineering standards, GMP requirements, site procedures & agreed project timelines.
Act as the engineering representative for assigned project workstreams, partnering closely internally & externally. The role will focus on long-term project delivery, ensuring that engineering deliverables are clearly defined, technically robust, properly documented, aligned with site needs & progressed through design, procurement, installation, commissioning, qualification & handover.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide Engineering Input to enable right-first-time strategy for capital project execution & supports design, procurement, installation, commissioning, qualification, start-up & handover phases.
Prepare and maintain project engineering documentation, including project plans, technical specifications, schedules, protocols, commissioning documentation, engineering reports & handover packs.
Generate, review, and close out engineering reports, project status updates, risk assessments, technical assessments & project completion documentation.
Manage day-to-day engineering interfaces with internal teams, contractors, vendors & project stakeholders to ensure technical alignment & timely progress.
Align with local & global engineering standards, project governance requirements, equipment harmonisation principles, & site technical standards.
Coordinate equipment qualification, commissioning support, change control inputs, maintenance readiness, spare parts, training & handover to site operations.

COMPETENCIES
Understanding of engineering project delivery, capital project controls, technical documentation, commissioning, qualification & manufacturing site requirements.
Work effectively on long-term projects with multiple stakeholders, contractors, vendors, workstreams, deadlines & competing priorities.
Attention to detail with experience reviewing engineering drawings, technical specifications, protocols, reports, schedules & project documentation.
Technical writing skills, including experience preparing specifications, engineering reports, commissioning records, change control inputs, and handover documentation.
Organisational, planning, time management & prioritisation skills, with the ability to drive project tasks & engineering deliverables to completion.
Problem-solving & troubleshooting skills, with the ability to assess technical issues based on safety, compliance, cost, schedule & operational impact.
Communication, contractor coordination & stakeholder management skills, both verbal & written.
Written & spoken English.
Collaborative with the ability to influence without direct authority in a matrix project environment.

EDUCATION
Third level qualification in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in an engineering, project engineering, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated site environment. 
Experience supporting long-term engineering projects, capital projects, equipment upgrades, facility modifications, utility improvements, commissioning, qualification, or operational readiness activities. 
Strong knowledge of engineering project lifecycle, technical documentation, site engineering standards, GMP expectations, EHS requirements & manufacturing site compliance requirements.
