The Global Network Support Specialist is an integral part of our Network and Computing Services team based out of our Ireland - Sligo site.

 

Position Details

Responsibilities:
•    Provide guidance & vision on security practices, tools, & technology for the advancement & refinement of the Global security environment. 
•    Assess security risks & make recommendations for applications & design secure solutions. 
•    Provide technical support & 2nd level services in the areas of network, security & telephony infrastructure to IT staff both local & globally.  
•    Perform network, security & telephony hardware failure diagnosis & manage field service for resolution  
•    Evaluate network, security & telephony hardware/software for standards-based implementation at sites worldwide. 
•    Perform network, security & telephony device software problem diagnosis & implement bug fixes/workarounds. 
•    Develop & maintain standard procedures for installation & maintenance of network, security & telephony systems software. 
•    Develop, implement & test network & security recovery mechanisms. 
•    Install, configure & maintain network & security infrastructure services. 
•    Install, configure & maintain network management systems  
•    Install, configure & maintain network devices such as firewalls, routers, Layer 2/3 switches, wireless controllers & access points. 
•    Solid understanding of network protocols, standards, & technology. 
•    Conceptual knowledge of emerging network, telephony and server optimization & management technologies.  
•    Develop project plans, capital spending authorization requests & manage projects on both local & global levels. 
•    Work with the server & network management team leads to coordinate the priorities & efforts of the server & network systems staff to complete assignments & projects.

Job Specific Technical, Functional and Professional Competencies:
•    Cost effective network, telephony design & implementation services. 
•    Convergence strategies to integrate voice, video & data. 
•    Cloud & on prem security design, configuration & management 

Essential Education and Experience:
•    Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent combination of formal technical education. 
•    Min 5+ years relevant experience.  
•    Strong knowledge & experience with Microsoft, Cisco, UCaaS technologies.
•    Strong knowledge & experience with enterprise class LAN & WAN devices such as firewalls, switches, & routers. 
•    Strong background in networking. Must have work experience with some, or all of the following protocols: BGP, OSPF, 802.1Q, STP, Ethernet, IPv4,IPv6, TCP, UDP, & SNMP. 
•    Knowledge in Software Defined Networking  
•    Knowledge in SD-WAN technologies & management. 
•    Knowledge of WAN & LAN concepts, network security, network optimization, performance monitoring, system resiliency, server backup & recovery, workstation connectivity, & Internet connectivity. 
•    Technical ability & knowledge to quickly integrate, implement & document new technologies.
•    Work effectively within a cross functional team environment.
•    Experience with solutions for monitoring network and telephony performance, reliability and stability. 
•    Work experience with enterprise LAN/WAN technology. 
•    Identifies opportunities for improvements & sponsors projects to management. 
•    Develops & manages significant project tasks according to corporate IT standard methodology. 
•    Demonstrated ability to make independent judgments with review from management.  
•    Travel to remote facilities as required.
