The Financial Accountant is an integral part of our Accounting team based out of our Ireland - Sligo site.

Job Description
To provide comprehensive accounting support across all finance functions in a biologic pharmaceutical environment. The role is responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of financial reporting, compliance, costing, and planning activities, while supporting operational and strategic decision-making. This position requires a qualified accountant with strong ERP (preferably JD Edwards) experience, who is comfortable working in a small, hands-on finance team as well as interacting with the regional finance function as part of a global company.
Education
• Qualified Accountant ACA/ACCA/CPA
• Undergraduate degree in business, finance or accounting
Experience
• Minimum 3–7 years’ post-qualification experience in finance, preferably within pharma/biotech or manufacturing.
• Proven experience across the majority of core accounting functions (GL, AP, AR, payroll, treasury, costing, FP&A).
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting and manufacturing finance.
• ERP experience essential; JD Edwards (JDE) desirable.
• Advanced Excel and strong financial analysis skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
• Prepare and review journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
• Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual management and statutory accounts.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS/US GAAP and local statutory requirements.
• Support the key accounting functions (GL, AP, AR, payroll, treasury, costing, FP&A).
• Support the standard costing processes and ensure accurate product costing.
• Perform variance analysis (material, labour, overheads) and provide commentary.
• Monitor and reconcile inventory valuation in line with pharmaceutical industry requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans.
• Deliver monthly management reporting and KPI analysis.
• Partner with operational teams to provide financial insight and decision support.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and SOX compliance (if applicable).
• Support preparation for and coordination of internal and external audits.
• Identify opportunities to streamline and improve financial processes.
• Define local finance SOP’s in compliance with corporate, Sox and local legal standards.
• Drive the achievement of consistent high standards through process optimisation, automation and transformation, while enhancing the finance organization’s value creation for all stakeholders.
• Build and develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
• Compliance to all site Environmental, Health and Safety requirements, training and regulations
• Compliance to all local site company policies, procedures and corporate policies
• Perform additional duties as required
