The Farm Technician is an integral part of our Research and Development team based out of our US - Corvallis, OR site.

 

Position Details

The position is based at Phibro’s Corvallis Research Center (CRC). The Research Farm Technician will be supervised by the farm supervisor and will be part of a team composed of scientists and technicians. The CRC team leads a robust, strategic, and coordinated research process focusing on effectively utilizing our human and economic resources to drive and sustain the growth of our nutritional products. The CRC supports the planning and execution of Business Development, Product Development, Collaborative Research, and Market Support research projects. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and execute research protocols at the research farm. 
  • Collaborate with the farm supervisor, researchers, and technicians on protocol design and execution.
  • Continuous improvement and adherence to research quality standards, animal care and data integrity.
  • Provide animal care and sampling for research protocols at the research farm. Tasks include, but are not limited to, diet preparation, feeding, watering, weighing, catching and restraining, administering medications and vaccinations, and animal loading/unloading.
  • Responsible for data recording, quality and entry as specified by the research protocol. 
  • Maintain accurate and timely animal and sampling records.
  • Maintain farm equipment and facilities and ensure facility maintains a clean and orderly environment for customer and employee visits
  • Develop, update, and/or contribute to the writing of protocols, SOPs, and other documents in compliance with internal and external regulations
  • Support sample processing and standard analytical assays related to specific research proposals
  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed at all times

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • High School degree.
  • Experience of 1 year of livestock and animal handling and caring
  • Proactive and fast learner, continually striving to expand skillsets
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by influence, problem solve and help lead change
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Passion for teamwork, high sense of urgency, absolute integrity, and robust initiative.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • No known allergies to laboratory animals, livestock (including poultry), or their feed ingredients.
  • Physical ability to work on feet for extended periods, motor skills to operate equipment, and ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Available to work on weekends and early morning or evening working hours as needed
