The Research Technician is an integral part of our Research and Development team based out of our US - Corvallis, OR site.


Position Details

The Research Technician is responsible for the execution and completion of laboratory and farm responsibilities. This role is responsible for maintaining and developing technical expertise with instrumentation and equipment, as well as supporting development to full completion of new laboratory assays and farm activities as needed. The Research Technician utilizes the appropriate techniques, procedures and methods to produce reliable and accurate data that will be used to support various research projects.

Position Responsibilities

• Perform, develop, and establish basic and complex laboratory procedures, applying high research standards (safety, integrity, ethics) to ensure accuracy.

• Execute research protocols/procedures and analyze, interpret, and/or make deductions of laboratory results

• Continuous improvement and adherence to research quality standards, animal care and data integrity

• Adhere to project timelines for completion of work through proper planning and communication with relevant stakeholders

• Maintain an accurate and timely record of laboratory results and experiments

• Maintain laboratory and farm operation and upkeep (e.g., inventory of supplies and consumables, general and routine lab spaces, and equipment maintenance)

• Develop, update, and/or contribute to the writing of protocols, SOPs, and other documents in compliance with internal and external regulations

• Collaborate on the execution of lab and farm research projects

• Ensure that all safety guidelines are always followed and maintain a clean and orderly environment

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

• Education of a B.S. (i.e., molecular biology, biochemistry, animal science, or a related field)

• Experience of 2 years in R&D with a proven track record of research laboratory skillsets (independence, attention to details, analytical skills, time management)

• Analytical skills on molecular biology and biochemistry assays, including DNA and RNA extraction, qPCR, ELISAs, Western blotting, other immunoassays, and cell culture.

• Proactive and fast learner, continually striving to expand laboratory analytical skillsets with top-notch technology.

• Work independently and collaboratively in a matrixed environment.

• Demonstrated ability to lead by influence, problem solve and help lead change

• Good working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office and Prizm GraphPad or comparable scientific data applications.

• Passion for teamwork, high sense of urgency, absolute integrity, and robust initiative.

• Strong organizational skills with excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
